More than 4 million Sudanese are forcibly displaced today

At the end of 2011, the UN has identified Sudan as one of the world's largest humanitarian crises.

An estimated 400,000 people have been forcibly displaced since South Sudan declared independence from Sudan in mid 2011.

The forcibly displaced men, women and children fleeing from Sudan into South Sudan are described as being in desperate condition and in need of water, food and shelter. Many are said to be suffering...

Over 2,000 refugees arrive on Italian shores in the past 3 days
1,500 people have died trying to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa

The UNHCR reports that over 50,000 people (including many women and children) have arrived in Italy in the past 8 months as they flee violence and uncertainty in North Africa.

It is estimated that more than 1,500 people have died this year while attempting to cross the Mediterranean from North Africa...
